The Kastély was built in 1922 by the aristocratic Zichy family. In the early 1900's, they were one of the five richest families in Hungary. They owned 30 private residences. This mansion was only occupied for two months out of every year, during which time the family would oversee their property holdings of 1,483 acres in the surrounding area. After World War II, the Zichy family fled to Sweden as the communists took over the facility and communist leaders used it as a vacation home. After the Revolution of 1957, the manor was converted into a camp for handicapped children. When the iron curtain fell in 1989, the new government did not have the funds to maintain the property. As a result it was abandoned in 1994 and fell into a sad state of disrepair. In 2000 it was purchased by Calvary Chapel and underwent major renovations for the purpose of reaching out to Eastern and Western Europe with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
